Tarik was introduced to Ashtanga yoga system by Larry Schulz in 1994 . It was precisely what he had been looking for and from that point on he has been dedicated to the system and to deepening his practice and knowledge. Tarik has practiced Ashtanga yoga for 25 years and over the last 18 years he has studied with his primary teachers Sri K.P. Jois and his grandson R. Sharath Jois. He visits Mysore, India almost annually to continue his studies and practice and was blessed teach by Pattabhi Jois in 2005 and certified in 2012. Tarik is one of a handful of certified Ashtanga teachers in the world
Tarik presently teaches all over the world and is the owner of MysoreTokyo (www.tarik.com) in Tokyo, Japan where he taught a daily Mysore class for 14 years. Tarik together with Mozart Reina have created a new shala on the tropical island of Siargao. Sadhana Siargao is a place for students to practice immersed in nature, with green jungle, warm blue ocean and clean fresh air while enjoying simple island life. Tarik is committed to teaching the Ashtanga practice in the way that best serves their health and well being of the students. Ideally creating an environment for them to discover the beauty and power of their own authentic yoga.
Mozart is a student in the Ashtanga tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and continues to make extended trips to to the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) in Mysore, India to study with his teacher Sharath Jois.
He also had the good fortune of studying various philosophical texts, Vedic rituals, and Sanskrit with Vidvans Vijaya Kumar Manja and Prasad Dundi at the Maharaja Sanskrit College also in Mysore, India. He teaches traditional Mysore-style classes, japa, and discusses the main texts through the lens of traditional commentaries.
Dylan had the good fortune to be introduced to yoga and zazen meditation in 1988, at the ripe age of 14 and a half. Since then, he has traveled widely, practicing, studying and teaching.
He regularly teaches on four continents and continues to be influenced by many teachers and traditions. Perhaps his primary inspiration has become his dynamic and inquisitive students.
Dylan has a background in pedagogy and cognitive development. His classes are intended to put students into direct contact with their own true internal teachers. Essentially, Dylan remains a pluralist, believing in many kinds of truth and many manners of realization.He holds a Master’s Degree in Buddhist Studies and has been granted authorization to teach..
Pam Luther and Jake Barr are dedicated students of the Ashtanga Yoga method and have travelled most years since 2002 for extended trips to study with their teachers, Guruji and Sharath, in Mysore, India. They have maintained a daily Ashtanga Yoga practice for the last 19 years and continue to practice and teach as they have been taught. Pam and Jake began exploring yoga and meditation in the mid 90's, dabbling with various methods, teachers and books until their first taste of Ashtanga Yoga in 2000, and have been dedicated to this practice ever since. Pam was authorized by Guruji and Sharath in 2006 and Jake in 2008.
Pam and Jake live on the east coast of Australia with their 8 year old son Rio. They teach both locally and internationally and welcome all students to come and practice with them in a supportive and relaxed space.
Robin is a gentle and nurturing teacher of the Ashtanga method, with a deep respect for the purity of this practice. She passes the teachings on with care and precision, believing that the benefits come from consistent and sustainable effort in the traditional way.
Robin started practicing yoga when she was 18 years old. She has travelled the globe studying various teaching techniques and yogic philosophy with some of the most inspiring teachers, such as Nea Ferrier of Ashtanga Yoga Dubai, Tim Miller in California, and Gregor Maehle author of ‘Ashtanga Yoga Practice and Philosophy’.
She is a dedicated student of R. Sharath Jois, the foremost authority of Ashtanga Yoga today. Receiving the traditional Authorization of KPJAYI to teach this method in its purest form has been an incredible blessing, which then allowed Robin the opportunity to assist Sharath Jois while he taught in the KPJAYI Shala in Mysore, India.
Over the years, Robin has taught in many different places, including; Dubai, Bali, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany and more.
She loves teaching both beginners and also experienced practitioners. She assists her students with their individual needs in order to promote physical, emotional and spiritual balance in their contemporary lifestyles. She believes this traditional practice to be a fundamental catalyst for growth, when practiced daily.
